Arctic Circle

This beginning unit on the Arctic Circle includes the basics of latitude and longitude so students are better able to understand exactly where the Arctic Circle is located as well as this imaginary line’s relationship with the solstices and the sun.  Students will also learn about how the climate affects species biodiversity and will compare and contrast the tropical rainforest with the arctic biome.  Several worksheets are included in the printable unit which is free for K-12 subscribers or can be purchased separately at CurrClick for 99 cents.  Worksheets are useful to test their comprehension and retention and parents can find the solutions to the activities at the end of the unit.  Online activities include vocabulary matching, classification of biomes and animals, latitude matching, and a hidden picture quiz with an explanation of the hidden picture afterward.  For grades 3-6.
